Chess.com is a global gaming, technology, and content company that operates a platform for playing, learning, and enjoying chess. It serves the global chess community with products, content, and tools.

• Own the design of the Courses product experience at Chess.com;
• Partner with Product, Engineering, Copywriters, and leadership to define problems and build effective product experiences;
• Craft polished, high-quality designs for web and mobile platforms using Chess.com design patterns and design system;
• Design interactive courses and habit-forming spaced repetition practice;
• Present design proposals and explain decisions using contextual rationale, heuristics, and user insights where possible;
• Build interactive prototypes using Cursor, Claude Code, and Figma Make;
• Own projects from initial concept through implementation and ensure design-to-code alignment;
• Suggest and design meaningful product improvements to make the experience more fun, social, and consistent across platforms;
• Support design teammates and provide constructive design feedback.

• 3–5 Years of experience as a Product Designer on a consumer-facing product or game;
• A portfolio demonstrating interface and user experience design;
• Mastery of UI design fundamentals, including typography, color, layout, visual hierarchy, alignment, contrast, and interactivity;
• Experience designing responsive and interactive user interfaces for mobile apps and the web;
• Experience working with a large, established design system;
• Familiarity with frontend development and how design translates into code;
• Strong collaboration and communication skills in a remote, globally distributed team;
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for documenting and explaining design decisions;
• A sense of ownership, pride, and responsibility for your craft;
• Nice to have: Experience using AI tools like Cursor, Claude Code, and Figma Make to build shareable high-fidelity prototypes and iterate quickly.
