data engineer in banking

Bank of Baku OJSC operates in the banking industry.

• Design, develop, test, and support reliable ETL/ELT data pipelines;
• Integrate data from the core banking system and other operational source systems;
• Analyze source system tables and prepare source-to-target mappings;
• Design and maintain fact tables, dimensions, reference data, data marts, and historical data structures;
• Implement full and incremental data loading processes;
• Develop data validation, reconciliation, logging, monitoring, and error-handling mechanisms;
• Monitor ETL jobs and investigate failed or delayed data loads;
• Develop and optimize SQL queries, PL/SQL programs, database objects, and ETL workflows;
• Collaborate with business analysts, report developers, database administrators, information security teams, and business stakeholders;
• Prepare and maintain technical documentation for data models, ETL workflows, dependencies, and transformation rules;
• Comply with the bank’s information security, access control, audit, and data governance requirements;
• Contribute to future data lake, streaming, and advanced analytics initiatives.

• At least 3 years of experience in data engineering, ETL development, database development, or a related field;
• Strong practical knowledge of SQL and PL/SQL;
• Experience developing PL/SQL procedures, functions, packages, and complex SQL queries;
• Experience designing, developing, and supporting ETL/ELT pipelines;
• Practical experience with at least one enterprise ETL tool;
• Experience working with relational databases such as Oracle and/or PostgreSQL;
• Understanding of ETL architecture and full/incremental data loading models;
• Understanding of Data Warehouse architecture and dimensional data modeling;
• Experience working with fact tables, dimensions, data marts, and historical data;
• Experience with data validation, reconciliation, troubleshooting, and performance optimization;
• Understanding of Git or another version control system;
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field;
• Fluent Azerbaijani;
• Intermediate or higher English;
• Responsibility, discipline, initiative, result orientation, adaptability, activity, stress management, problem-solving, and analytical thinking;
• Nice to have: Russian, Python, Apache Spark or PySpark, Apache NiFi, Apache Airflow or another workflow orchestration platform, Apache Kafka or another messaging platform, data lake and lakehouse architectures, Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD, data quality, metadata management, data lineage, data governance, previous experience in banking or financial services.
