frontend developer in energy markets

Modo Energy is a data platform for the energy transition. It provides benchmarking, forecasting, valuation, data, research, and AI-assisted tools used by energy investors, developers, operators, and market professionals.

• Shape the technical direction of the frontend monorepo as it scales with the team and product;
• Design and build components in the internal MUI-based UI library;
• Build and improve high-performance, low-latency interfaces for live market data;
• Write well-tested code using Jest, Cypress, or Playwright;
• Contribute to the team’s code review and documentation practices;
• Ship new features and handle maintenance, performance work, and production issues;
• Work directly with design and energy analysts and data scientists to connect design and engineering;
• Work across backend and infrastructure basics behind owned features, including API changes, deployment fixes, and data pipelines.

• 3+ Years of professional frontend development experience;
• Excellent TypeScript, React, and Next.js skills;
• Experience with MUI or a similar component library;
• Solid testing practice with Jest and Cypress or Playwright;
• Proficiency with Git, Docker, and CI/CD workflows;
• Familiarity with monorepo structures and tools such as Turborepo or Yarn Workspaces;
• Fluency with AI-assisted development tools such as Cursor, Claude Code, or GitHub Copilot;
• Strong UI/UX sense and ability to build polished, aesthetically pleasing interfaces;
• Fast learning ability and good judgement when making component design and delivery decisions;
• Comfort working autonomously in a small, fast-moving team and making trade-offs;
• Nice to have: Start-up or scale-up experience, familiarity with Python, experience with energy markets.
