react for an auction marketplace

Catawiki is a marketplace for buying and selling special objects. More than 100,000 unique items are auctioned each week, curated by in-house experts, and the platform has sold over 25 million objects.

• Build impactful product experiences across the Catawiki platform for buyers, sellers, customer service, and internal operations teams;
• Create adaptable web frontends on top of scalable microservices using TypeScript and ReactJS;
• Deliver responsive and accessible experiences across desktop, tablet, and mobile screens;
• Optimise product performance by measuring and monitoring systems and using insights to improve user experiences;
• Experiment with Product Managers and UX Designers on A/B tests, using data analysis to validate ideas and iterate;
• Collaborate with engineers, QA, design, and product colleagues to build scalable and maintainable solutions.

• Extensive experience as a Frontend Engineer using JavaScript or TypeScript as the main stack;
• Strong portfolio of frontend deliveries;
• Proficiency in JavaScript or TypeScript, HTML, and CSS;
• Understanding of HTTP/S, the Critical Rendering Path, CORS, caching, and CDNs;
• Familiarity with ReactJS, NextJS, Redux, CSS Modules, Tailwind, and/or Rails;
• Experience working in product companies with engineers and Product Managers as part of an autonomous, cross-functional team;
• Experience designing, implementing, deploying, monitoring, and managing production applications;
• Focus on availability, latency, and consistency;
• Understanding of SOLID and DRY principles;
• Consideration of accessibility, security, SEO, performance, testing, observability, internationalisation, and typing when building features;
• Initiative, knowledge sharing, and experience helping raise the level of a team;
• Ability to validate ideas quickly, iterate based on insights, and build scalable and maintainable solutions;
• Nice to have: Familiarity with NodeJS and experience running it in production.

• Hybrid work from the Amsterdam HQ with a minimum of 2 days per week in the office;
