platform engineer for API management

• Build or contribute to an Internal Developer Platform, developer portal, platform engineering capability, or shared cloud platform;
• Work with API gateway and API management technologies;
• Evaluate technical options, create prototypes, document trade-offs, and present recommendations to technical and non-technical stakeholders;
• Take end-to-end ownership of tasks in agile, cross-functional teams;
• Identify relevant questions and translate business or technical objectives into implementable solutions;
• Explain technical decisions, facilitate discussions, and create concise decision documents.

• Broad technical background across application development, cloud infrastructure, networking, security, and platform engineering;
• Hands-on experience with API gateway and API management technologies such as Kong, Apache APISIX, Envoy, AWS API Gateway, Azure API Management, or similar;
• Good understanding of API security, authentication and authorization, traffic management, rate limiting, resilience, service discovery, and observability;
• Strong software engineering skills in Java or Kotlin, including experience with modern application frameworks and API design;
• Practical experience with cloud platforms, containers, Kubernetes, infrastructure as code, CI/CD, observability, and automated operations;
• Experience working with incomplete or evolving requirements;
• Excellent communication and stakeholder-management skills;
• English proficiency at B2 level or higher;
• Nice to have: German language at B1+ level minimum.
